What to Check Before Blaming Transporters

What leadership teams should review before assigning road, rail or RCR movement delays.

Transporter performance matters, but it should not be reviewed in isolation. Delays can also come from dispatch readiness, documentation, route assumptions, railway timing, siding availability, unloading windows or plant-side constraints.

Before assigning responsibility, leadership should look at the full movement interface: dispatch plan, vehicle or rake availability, loading discipline, gate entry, weighbridge records, unloading capacity and release timing.

The purpose of the review is to identify which part of the chain needs correction, and which teams need to coordinate differently.
